This fantastic production by PBS NewsHour showcases the extraordinary achievements of Daniel Paris. As the videos description so succinctly reads, “This is the story of Daniel Paris, a young man who was identified to have multiple learning disabilities, as well as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). After dropping out of high school during sophomore year, Daniel returned to school and completed his degree. He’s now a graduate student at Harvard University.” However, this shortly blurb doesn’t begin to capture the incredible turnaround Daniel has made and the lessons he learned along the way.

We usually try to capture the essence of a story in a few sentences, to grab the reader’s attention. However, in this case, the article did the job for us. It reads, “At one month old, Luke Sorensen was abandoned in front of a police station in his birth country of China. Now, at 17 years old, Marana High School’s 2018 valedictorian is preparing for his first semester at Harvard.”
